Joan Reid I have read ALL of your books, and can't see that any agenda comes through. As most of your books are in the vein of what I consider historical fiction, I think the social issues of the eras involved are what I pick up on as themes. What I took away was the hopelessness and lack of power of women and children in ages past. I had to stop reading Jodi Picoult (and others!) as she pushes an agenda down your throat that does not match my values. I realized that, although she is and excellent writer, each of her books was making me an angry person, in a non-constructive way.

Linda I’ve read and loved many of your books. I think you do have what the Americans might think of as a liberal voice. I think this is more of a reflection on the state of US politics than on your writing. That very human voice is part of what I love about your books! I think it’s a bit weird to compare you to Jodie Picoult, your books and style are very different.
