R. I mentioned the Alice/Addy raising Martin 'verse the other day on my tumblr. I call it the happiest timeline. Martin is loved and knows it and only has the usual insecurities of being a soft bi boy in a town like Everlasting. He would be much quicker to express an interest in Ian, and much surer of his place in Ian's world. (Ian wouldn't stand a chance in that 'verse either, but he'd spend less time pretending he did.) And Alice and Addison... sigh. Their (second) tentative courtship beginning at the end of HMB is so sweet. This time with no misunderstandings on Addison's part, and all the apologies. (And I think, Addison's parents were not the nicest, or the warmest, which is why I think in a world where she overcomes that, she would be a great adoptive mom to someone like Martin.) Because Alice looks like steel, but Alice is rumpled and grumpy-sweet and concerned. Addison wears barrettes and dresses a bit like the coed she once was, but she has the family name, that solid, respectable, middle class NAME in that town, and the background steeped in it. She would be the one to step in and destroy anyone who hurt her boy. (And Alice would be so proud.) Aaaah. Anyway. They are going to go on careful not-dates and then maybe a real date or two, with Addy trying to make it up to Alice so hard, even though Alice knows what kind of parents she had and everything.

I really like thinking about them.
