Grant What about keeping his original body alive as a nightly juice box? He could put the Black Kings sacrificial dagger on a robot arm over its head and store the body in an oracalcuim coffin with feeding tubes to feed the body mortal food and blood. When Halar wants to feed on the body use the robot arm to stab it in the head while it is still sealed then drink his fill of blood and spirit, stopping short of killing it. Then remove the knife, pump in blood and toss in a pedophile. Rinse and repeat until Halar has completely reabsorb his old power.

Garon Whited Could work. It's questionable as to whether or not Eric *would* do it.

Britt I don't see why he would need to absorb his powers back. It seemed to me that they were a part of his soul not his body. When he was a "god" he expended energy to make his body "bigger" for his soul. And in another instance when he was freed from the depths of his own mind he liquefied a normal human body because his soul was too much for it. So they stored him temporarily in the mountain.
If anything I think that would be the real problem. He would need a body that could handle his soul.

John Gleason wouldn't he just need to eat a shit ton of elves, or elven ghosts to get the same effect?

Garon Whited There appears to be some ongoing adaptation between his physical body and the vampirism (and other things, possibly!). He didn't start with sharp teeth--those developed. He didn't immediately have pointy ears--those developed. Did he always have the ability to focus all his spirit-tendrils into a single appendage--or did that come with age and increasing ability? Blood didn't always crawl toward him, either! And let's not get started on that tongue thing.
Given what he's gone through, it's possible he's stuck with his current body. Trying to fit in another one--genetically enhanced or not--might be more than the body can handle. One could argue it took a miracle to get him back in his original flesh. One could also argue that his original flesh isn't "original" anymore, but artificially modified in drastic ways.
So, yes, it's possible to design and build a body from the DNA up, making it physically "perfect" by whatever criteria you want to lay down. But would Eric, as he is now, be able to fit in it? And, assuming he can, how long will it take to "adapt" to his vampirism and get his powers back up to the level they're at now?
No, he's not going to try it. He might have only one shot at it. If it goes wrong, it could go completely wrong--and the potential gains aren't worth the risk.
