MY question was less about altering the appearance of his form and more about altering his performance. Going with the example I gave, Luke Cage, Cage was from what you would call an ordered universe and the changes to his biology were minor tweaks to his genes accomplished through crisper that gave him strength enough to dead lift 20 tons and durability enough to shrug of an RPG but be put in the hospital from the concussion afterwards. My question was would we ever get to see Eric ever get to that level? Right now he doesn't seem all that physically powerful for a fantasy character.
Hmm. Well, Eric doesn't usually have to demonstrate an appalling amount of brute, physical force. He's a physics teacher, not a brawler.
Although, to be fair, he did backhand someone at the speed of sound, with icky effects.
Still, he doesn't usually do a lot of brute-force feats of strength. He tries to be as efficient and practical as possible. *Can* he flip over a Cadillac? Yes--at night. But if Bronze is driving it, the shocks and springs will, shockingly, spring the Caddy into a flip for him.
As for the durability question, no. Naked and facing rocket launchers, he's not going to take a hit well. Fundamentally, he's flesh and blood, albeit magical. Knives cut him, bullets go into and sometimes through, even a fist to the face can break his nose or jaw. He recovers from these in minutes, at most, but if you do enough damage to him in one shot, he vaporizes almost as easily as a human.
My question was if we would ever get to see he EVLOVE to that level. To become one of the big league supernatural threats in a purely physical sense during the day and and army killer at night because, within your world building, it looks like it should be possible,
Objectively, Eric *IS* a big league supernatural threat, even though he tries not to be.
As for his evolution in to a more powerful form, Sasha noted that their breed of vampire acquires a certain level of power fairly rapidly, then the growth slows down with age. The process was greatly accelerated in Eric's case (consuming magical creatures, hibernating in an Ascension Sphere, etc.), but the general pattern still holds.
Could he or will he grow more powerful as a vampire? Certainly... very gradually. It might take centuries to make a noticeable improvement. He's a predator species, not a Kryptonian. (Although it would be interesting to see what Kryptonian blood does for him, if anything...)
