Chris That's awesome, Andy! Any idea on when we might be able to get our hands on it yet?

message 2: by Mike (new)

Mike Walters Outstanding. Looking forward to reading it.

message 3: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Yes can't wait!!

message 4: by Matt (new)

Matt Mason Hope to read it soon.

message 5: by Cat (new)

Cat Audette Holt FTL? Thanks for taking the time to answer our (no pressure) question.

message 6: by Jevgeni (new)

Jevgeni Komkin FTL = faster than light (travel).

message 7: by Cat (new)

Cat Audette Holt Thanks!

message 8: by John (new)

John Couldn't come out soon enough!

message 9: by Michael (new)

Michael Lyashenko The deeply technical aspect was one of the best parts. I hope you will still keep it believable and acceptably scientifically accurate.

message 10: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca I agree with Michael... I loved the combination of deeply scientific, sci-fi action and humor. It was just perfect in every way. Looking forward to reading your next, but would love to see additional technical books in the future, if you think you're up to it... or are even interested after all the research involved in the Martian.

message 11: by Pawel (new)

Pawel Olas I think that technical side made your book unique and made so believable. Plus the humor. A pity next one is going to have aliens FTL and such. I hope I'm wrong and it will be even better :-)

message 12: by Juan (new)

Juan The extremely detailed technical part of the Martial was my preferred aspect of the book. I love traditional sic-fi and aliens, not quite fan of FTL and telepathy, but I trust you and want to read your new book !!

message 13: by Gojirasan (new)

Gojirasan I also hope you stick with lots of detail. It's details that make a story seem real. Glad you're hard at work already working on your next story. Your last one was just wonderful.

message 14: by Jared (new)

Jared I would love to see you write a book with FTL, light speed effects and interstellar travel that contains technical details but more importantly is mathematically accurate like The Martian. So many novels just gloss over it. "They traveled at warp 9 through subspace and arrived at New New York 2 in three days." Or investigate if it would even be possible to employ trade or govern over those long times and distances. The Forever War is the closest book I can think of -- really messes with your head.

message 15: by Nick (new)

Nick Sounds awesome. We need more 'Star Trek'-esque stuff, especially from a master author who knows how to write hard sci-fi and not just cheesy old fantasy-sci-fi!

message 16: by Nick (new)

Nick your debut novel was astounding and ground breaking. i am excited to see whats next from you. i also love your short stories too. the 'ready player one' was especially cool read.

message 17: by Michał (new)

Michał Steier I'm already excited just thinking about that.

message 18: by Jitka (new)

Jitka Egressy can't wait :-)

message 19: by Gus (new)

Gus Grubba >Zhek has aliens, FTL travel, telepathy, etc
What about more cow bells? :)
Can't wait!

message 20: by Arvenig (new)

Arvenig I can't wait!!

message 21: by Nate (new)

Nate Girard I think your technical mind was brilliantly portrayed in The Martian and encourage you to keep writing. No matter what it is I'll read it. But I think your fans will want more of the same and your unique interests and personality make you best suited to tackle technical hard sf and make it believable and entertaining.

message 22: by Stoyana (new)

Stoyana Alexandrova fantastic, I can't wait !

message 23: by Colleen (new)

Colleen Palladino I cannot wait!!! :)

message 24: by Mo (new)

Mo Mr Weir I need to warn you about two things though, if you write about FTL you will be violating a proven axiom of science, if you write about FTL within the context of Alcubierre warp bubble you will be repeating Interstellar, how will you solve this dilemma?

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds very interesting. Can't wait!

message 26: by Eva (new)

Eva YAAY! I can't wait.
I want a little something tho, can you explain the characters looks a little bit more, from the start? Like if they are blond, black or ginger etc. It will be easier to paint a picture then. And you are one of my fav writers, i loved all of your answers at the end of Martian kindle e-book.

message 27: by Finn (new)

Finn Wafiy ouuuuu i can't wait to get my hands on Zhek!!!!! To those who haven't gotten their hands on The Martian book, check them out here http://www.bookdepository.com/The-Mar... for only $10.37!

message 28: by Andrej (new)

Andrej Grgic Sounds a bit like Xcom :-)

message 29: by Milaarquen (new)

Milaarquen Can't wait! I just finished The Martian and really liked it. Hope to read your next novel ASAP. =)

message 30: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Perez I can't wait! Looking forward to reading it!!

message 31: by Javier (new)

Javier I just wanna thank you for what a great job, I definitely enjoy so much by THE martian journey.!!!!!

message 32: by Javier (new)

Javier Andy, would be a sequel?, think about it, if so I'll buy it, have some ideas my email magnustat@hotmail.com

message 33: by Katie (new)

Katie Y. I misread and thought you said 'Shrek'...

message 34: by Closet Rebel (new)

Closet Rebel I am pretty sure Andy Weir was being sarcastic about his new book.

No way is he actually writing a fantasy fiction book after writing one of the better hard science fiction book to come out in a long time.

Not having aliens, FTL travel, telepathy, etc... is what makes The Martian so great.

message 35: by Sachin (new)

Sachin Wow. I am waiting for the book.

message 36: by Closet Rebel (new)

Closet Rebel As I mentioned above. Andy Weir was being sarcastic about what his new book.... https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

message 37: by Lane (new)

Lane Joslin When will "Zhek" come out?

message 38: by Mohamed (new)

Mohamed El Mourabite can't wait

message 39: by Michał (new)

Michał Ty He talks about it on the latest Tested podcast. Search for "Welcome Back Andy Weir! - Still Untitled" on YouTube.

Vageesh Singh Baghel NO! I want technical novels. Right now I am loving The Martian novel.

message 41: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Chandler I loved The Martian, chose it as the next book to read, just as the movie came out. I could hear everyone’s eyeballs roll. Well they loved it, had never read Sci Fi some skipped the technical stuff, everyone finished it, then we went to the theater and loved It. I saw it twice, read the book and then listened to it.
This is in my top 10 list, I’ve been reading for 55 years!

message 42: by Closet Rebel (new)

Closet Rebel Loving Project Hail Mary. Mark, back on earth and teaching HS science, gets recruited to help solve the dimming of the sun with Science!

At least I think it is Mark from The Martian since the character is the same.

No telepathy, FTL Travel thankfully. Trending as a 5 star read.

message 43: by Littie (new)

Littie john

message 44: by Andrew (new)

Andrew I am looking very much forward to the release of this book.

message 45: by Closet Rebel (new)

Closet Rebel I believe it was released. The title became "Project Hail Mary" instead of "Zhek". But Andy Weir would need to read his Goodreads comments and respond to verify this...

It definitely is not "Artemis" the other book that came out in the 8 years sense Weirs answer to Ken's question.

message 46: by Megan (new)

Megan so excited.
