I imagine that the differences in gravity could be used for political manoeuvring in places with artificial gravity. For instance, if some Barrayarans want to manipulate a group of Komarrans on a space station, they could increase the gravity so that it's just within the tolerance of most Barrayarans, but just outside that of most Komarrans. Sort of like a more subtle version of the Quaddies greeting Miles & co. in the null-gee part of Graf Station in Diplomatic Immunity.
