Ann Otto Speaking of Hemingway, I find his rule of always planning what he'll start with the next day helpful.

Gary Inbinder Thanks for the comment, Ann. I agree with you and Hemingway. I don't use "formal" outlines, but I do begin a novel with a rough sketch of the plot and characters. After that, I wing it, but I do plan for the next day's writing. That seems to keep me steady and focused as I work my way through the manuscript.

Gary Inbinder Thanks, Chadi. I'm familiar with the Hemingway quote. That's a painful metaphor. I know what he meant. Like many things in life, writing might not seem so hard, until you try doing it. Then, once you've done it, you might wonder whether or not it was worth it. ;)
