Several hacktivist groups, including Dragon Force, are wreaking havoc on government websites in India and the Maharashtra Cyber Cell is in a state of perplexity. The hackers often take advantage of a "Zero-Day" vulnerability, a bug that can be exploited before it is patched by the software system's owners. Despite sounding trivial, powerful hacking groups can cause as much damage as attacks.
Among the things they can disrupt are stock markets, electricity grids, communication networks, and transportation systems. The importance of cyber security these days is on par with that of the nation's borders.
