During this week-long program, through a series of interactive lectures and videos, you will explore the meaning of and inspiration behind the novels and films. Then, you'll discuss how these age-old themes remain relevant to the issues of today, including government surveillance, media sensationalism, and militarization of the police. You'll wrap up the week with a live, webcam-hosted presentation on "The Hunger Games and the Dystopian Tradition" with Professor Sturgis, followed by a conversation with special guest Cheralyn Lambeth, who worked on costume design for The Hunger Games film!
