1240569 I feel kind of let down by this one. While it was entertaining, it was also rather mundane and meandering. Is it just me or did it feel repetitive towards the end? Just when I thought it was in a good place to wrap things up, there were 30 more pages left. I liked the concept of the wedding, and Lillith’s twist at the end, but by then it was also not so surprising…know what I mean? Anyway, I rated it two stars, it was just alright, but nothing new or earth-shattering. Glad to finally have finished it.

1240569 I've kind of been in a mental slump this week and haven't been reading much. I started this one a day or so ago and have read the first 24 pages. I'm finding it engrossing and mysterious. Hoping to finish it up this weekend.

1240569 Playground: Child of Divorce by Aaron Beauregard
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

"EVERY PLAYGROUND HAS A PROTOTYPE

Geraldine Borden has realized that there's one thing her bottomless wealth can't grant her: children. When an attempt to remedy her infertility fails, she's left with nothing but rage, jealousy, and a murderous idea. She aims to take a place that all children adore and transform it into a twisted arena of carnage. And while her true masterpiece is still under construction, she seeks to entertain herself with a crude prototype filled with barbaric backyard games.

Several children from a small New England city have gone missing under mysterious circumstances. This group of kids—who once believed fractured family and teen angst were their toughest battles—now have a whole new set of problems. With no parents to guide them, will the children thrust into Geraldine's nightmare world have the grit and determination to escape? Or will they fall victim to their sadistic captor?"

1240569 Cows by Matthew Stokoe
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

"Mother's corpse in pieces, dead dog on the roof, girlfriend in a coma, baby nailed to the wall, and a hundred tons of homicidal beef stampeding through the subway system. And Steven thought the slaughterhouse was bad . . .

One of the most outrageous, original and insightful books ever written on the subject of alienation and societal decay, Cows is a violent, blood soaked nightmare - a scatological tale of love, self-empowerment and probably the most extreme novel you'll ever read. Hailed around the world as a cult classic, Matthew Stokoe's novel set the bar for gritty urban horror."

1240569 I was not able to find time to finish this until this morning. I liked it well enough. (view spoiler) There were some unique violent moments peppered throughout. This one was fun to read and it's definitely put Bryan Smith into category of author's works I'd like to explore more.

1240569 I made it to 63% last night and can't wait to finish this one. I find it pretty mild but I do like the character development and backstories. I eagerly await the twist!

Wedding Day Massacre by Aron Beauregard
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

"I NOW PRONOUNCE YOUR END OF LIFE...It's that special day. The day when everything's supposed to be perfect. The day when everyone is supposed to drink too much and party like it's nineteen-ninety-nine. A day when family and friends show their support for the beginning of a beautiful bond.

But what if someone wasn't there just to celebrate and have fun? What if the extravagant isolated destination was chosen for a more nefarious reason than assumed? What if someone at the ceremony held a dark secret? One that would see those in attendance slaughtered and humiliated in ways so nightmarish, they're beyond imagination. What if most everyone at the celebration had unknowingly attended a Wedding Day Massacre?"

Just two friends catching up on lost time, two friends thinking about their futures. . . two friends suddenly thrust into the middle of a nightmare. Forced to fight for their life against a sadistic killer with an arsenal of razor sharp blades and a hungry dog by his side. 1240569 Alan wrote: "Yeah was bad enough with what he and the other guy did the other year. But now this on top. I hope he rots."

The other author was Stephen Cooper.

I'll be going through our threads and removing him from any discussions and his book (our January 2025 read). From a video I watched, apparently a lot of online forums are doing this.
