Happy Birthday, Patrick!

Happy birthday, Jennie!!

I'm just wondering where my shipment went...

I think that literary agent was questioned outside the Broadway show "Wicked!"...

Shel - by "good" I mean salary higher than what I get paid now (which wouldn't be all that difficult to find, honestly...)
Thanks guys! Just found out I'm graduating summa cum laude as well! Woot!
And I'm going to check out Lorna Doone,Patty - thanks for the suggestion!

I can say one thing about e-readers - when I was carrying around huge Norton volumes of all the works of Shakespeare as well as a million other textbooks, being able to simply download the one play we were working on to my Blackberry saved my butt from lugging 40 pounds around campus!

...but I didn't! Still alive and kicking. Just finished my last semester and will be crowned with my B.A. in English on Sunday!! (It is still a crown, right? Because I'm totally looking forward to that!)
So now I'm back to my own time frame. Applying again to grad schools this summer (first round was a bust...ah-well) and/or looking for some good writing/editing/publishing gigs.
First things first...what should I read? *lol*
Missed you all!
Esther

Sorry I missed it...hope you had a happy birthday Kerry!

All the pictures so far are great! I'm completely jealous that I wasn't there, but glad that you all had a great time (and seemed to have some pretty good weather, as well). So...when are we setting the date for next year? *lol*

Hoping you all have a great time! Wish I was there!!

I know, I'm late getting to it but I'm adding my congrats as well!! JE, that's great news! I've been anxiously awaiting the next JE installment...so glad to hear it is on its way!

I'm a little frightened of you all right now...

Now see, I know all of this. I have marvelous conversations in my head following these occasions with all the flair of a French scholar. My teacher has even asked, "I know you know this so why are you so nervous?" But when put on the spot...it's lights out in my brain.
You know... I never had overwhelming stage fright throughout all my theater studies or choral performances, but I think this may be my own little form of it.
Michael wrote: "Ester wrote: "...when a question was posed to me I didn't understand a word...guess I'm not good at being put on the spot..."
My brother, the linguist, told me once that the first word one needs..."And here I was just using the deer-in-the-headlights, dog's-cocked-head technique, followed by a big gulp and a sigh...and sometimes a shrug of the shoulders.
Brian wrote: "now we, the reader and the author, each know where we stand and i'm interested to see where we go together. i see beers and a dark bar in the future..."Well, a dark bar without beers would just be awkward!
You crack me up, Brian.

I read My Sister's Keeper...good concept but I wasn't exactly enthralled. Meh.
Lauren: Good to hear!
I just sat through a French dinner that took about 2 hours and had to leave during dessert just to get home by 11pm. *sigh* Good food but I was full by the second course. How do they do it?
On the other hand I learned that while I understand a lot of what they were talking about (in French), when a question was posed to me I didn't understand a word...guess I'm not good at being put on the spot.
Michael wrote: "Guess what I found out!"
"What honey?"
"Do you know that we are all going to die! [When were they going to tell me about this!? This is extremely important news!:]" (I extrapolated the last part.)
"It's OK honey, it won't be for a very, very long time."
"So, you knew about this already?"That's great, Michael!

It came! It came! Stupid library says they called me, but I never got the message...I went and had them check their stacks again and it came! (Do I seem excited? Sorry...I really hate that "cut off from the world" feeling I sometimes get in this small town...)

Patrick: I had the same feeling about those two but I didn't know how to even begin the comparison...

Sure, let's shelter everyone so they can live in a happy dream world of Cinderella. Actually, they might not like Cinderella either...evil stepsisters and all! Oh no! *runs off to burn her fairytales*
I like the "religious viewpoint" excuse...should we ban the Bible as well? Should say "what we deem is the wrong religious viewpoint" or something.
