177170 I feel as if another person is going to finish the series. I hope I am wrong though.

177170 Well I just read an article that stated that we are all going to have to wait longer for The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring to be released. Seems like Martin is having some trouble finishing the series. Watch him write a totally different ending for the novels from what is portrayed when the HBO series ends.

177170 Shamefully true. Unfortunately it is all about the ratings with HBO. I heard that GRRM was writing in Roz (the prostitute) in SOIF due to her popularity in the shows. HBO created her character and they killed her off by Joffrey and the crossbow. They rewrote that scene for the screen. It was a random girl not Roz in the books. Did any of you come across her in the novels. I was unable to find her. If not, maybe Martin is waiting to put her in the last book.

177170 Hi everyone, first off I hope all of you are doing well. It has been quite a while. I hope everyone is surviving the wait for the new book. 😁. It is frustrating that the new book isn't out yet. Maybe there is a reason for it like writers block or Martin just needed a break from the world of SOIF to work on other projects. As mentioned in an above post, it would be funny if he told HBO a totally different ending from the one he uses in the last book. Maybe instead of ending it, he is thinking about making it a series of several books such as A Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan or the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. This would take time to switch plans and reorganize. Who knows really why he is waiting. One thing that we can be sure about though is that it will be a great read; however, I really, REALLY hope Martin does not kill off Tyrion. Tyrion need to survive.

177170 Honestly it is well worth the read. They are difficult when it comes to the genealogy, but worth the study. The books are better than the series in my opinion, however the series helps you keep track of the story when you are reading. To answer your last question, I feel that the writing of GRRM is incredibly talented and that is why I read it. Oh, and Tyrion is the best character. :-). Welcome to the group!!!

177170 If you have heard of the GOT popup bar that was around this past summer in Washington DC, my wife and I visited and it was AWESOME!!!! They even had a smoke breathing dragon in one of the themed rooms. Hope everyone is doing well.

177170 Hi everyone,

Hope you a are doing well. It has been a long time since I have posted. Been kind of crazy around here since my wife and I are expecting our second child. Anyway, here is a question. Who do you think truly built the Wall? Was it the men of Westros/Night's Watch to keep the white walkers out, the White Walkers/Wight's to protect them from the first men or could it have been built by the Children of the Forest considering there is Children of the Forest magic built in the wall? What are your thoughts. Would be interested in hearing your theories.

177170 I have been rewatching the seasons as well. On episode 9 of season one. Every time I watch the red wedding though I hate the fact that Martin killed off Talisa Stark. I really do have a love-hate relationship with George R. R. Martin. Every time I start liking a character he kills them off.
177170 I am not setting one for 2017 either. May the rebellion continue, not Robert's Rebellion, but the goodread book challenge rebellion. ;-)

177170 Leslie, I tried reading Twilight years ago after a student (middle school girl) told me that I HAD TO READ IT BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME. Well, I couldn't get past the first chapter. For me, it was just too much complaining and whining from the main character (I believe her name is Bella). Hope you are doing well with that read.

177170 I remember us talking about a Chronicles of Narnia group months ago. Glad you are liking the first book. By the way there are two ways of reading the books: chronologically and the other is when they were published. Someone told me years ago that you get a different perspective with each way. I don't know I have only read them in chronological order.

177170 Hi everyone, I hope you all are doing well. Had to take a break for a while from Goodreads and reading ASoIaF. Have started reading it again. It is amazing how much you pick up on after taking an extended break. Yes, I am way behind from where you all are, but I am still having a blast reading this great series. The Bran chapters are still annoying to me (just finished one of these chapters yesterday), but I am hoping his chapters get better fast. Still love the Arya chapters! Talk to you all soon. :-)

177170 I know I am not on here as much as I was but I agree. It gets to congested. Having the boards reduced to just the one specific group will "clean up" the site a bit.
177170 Hi everyone!!! Hope you are all doing well!!! My wife and I FINALLY got caught up on the new season. I tell you, this show keeps on getting better and better, but of course they are since the books are awesome!!!! Cersei's character in the show is getting more and more cunning and I hate to say it, but she is becoming a favorite of mine. It is funny how Jamie is becoming more and more gentle and "fair", but then again all of his children have died horrible deaths. That would traumatized anybody and either instill bitterness or humility in them.
177170 Looking forward to more GOT!!!! Bring on Feast of Crows!!!

177170 So I don't have HBO and I have been eager to see the new season. In July I will finally be at a location that has HBO so I will be able to finally view the new season. I can't wait!!!

177170 Yes, Roseanne, my county is done with school. The new year starts in mid August. All the kids were extremely happy that school was done and we the teachers were happy as well. Now my days are spent watching my soon to be one year old and reading GOT on my deck surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains. Not a bad venue to read such an awesome series!!!
177170 Can't wait. Hoping to catch up to read with you all.
