Hope, I’m so glad this challenge is blessing you! I probably should’ve said weekly categories instead of topics. Should I change or replace some categories? Suggestions are welcome.

Of all the books you read on your list this year, which one was your favorite and why?
My favorite and only 5* rating I gave in this challenge was
The 13th Day of Christmas. I read it as the December pick of my real-life book club. It was a great read for December and although it was sad, it was very heartwarming. I passed it on to two of my friends and they enjoyed it too. I think it touched me even more because one of the main characters is Miss Marva (a woman in her 80's). Marva reminded me so much of my own mother who passed 3 years ago and I miss her terribly. I also liked it because it wasn't a typical Christian fiction read. No Bible-thumping and unrealistic dialogue. It was an underlying tone but not in your face which I think would be a good read for non-believers. The main gospel message of Christ is not given until the Epilogue.

How did you all do on your 2018 Intentional Christian Reading list?
I only completed 9 which isn't too great since I created this challenge! I'll try to do better in 2019.

Should I create new folders for 2019 and continue this challenge? Is anyone interested? Should I change up the weekly topics? Let me know.

Hope, I think it has a lot to do with our frame of mind when reading it.

I listened to this on audio and the narrator was great. This book was read for my church book club. A tough read on Spiritual Warfare. Lewis really does this well from Satan's point of view. The consensus of my book club was this was a 3.5/5* book for the first time reading. For those that read it before and didn't like it so much or didn't finish it; the 2nd time reading was a 5*. I agree.

Hello and welcome Ashley!

I listened to this on audiobook and it was very good. Calming for my daily commutes. It was basic information we Christians should all know that we should be Anxious for Nothing and cast all our cares and worries on the Lord. It is still something we all keep hearing or reading though because the Spirit is willing but the Flesh is weak. I like how Max Lucado uses analogies and backs everything up he writes with scripture. This was recommended by a Christian friend and I'm glad I read/listened to it. 4*

I'm not sure you can make a discussion thread between certain members. You can discuss the book under the title, or if you want a more private discussion, private message each other.

You can introduce your book in the Spotlight your book folder
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... and creating a new topic for your book. Your book should be a Christian book though since that is the focus of this group.
Then, can you please delete this post from the introductions.
Thanks

Hello Eric! If you go to The 52 Topics for the "Intentional" Christian Reading Challenge, it lists the 52 topics. Highlight that list with the left click of your mouse. Then right mouse click and "copy". Then click on the bold header 2018 Reading Plans. At the top right you will see "new topic". Click on that. The window that opens up will show Topic. You can put the title of your list there. (ex. Eric's 2018 reading list). Make sure the dropdown window shows 2018 Reading Plans and not 2017. That way, it will go in the right folder. In the comment box, right mouse click and select "paste" to paste the 52 categories you copied. Scroll down to the category you want to list a specific book. Put your cursor at the end of that category description. Then, at the top (outside) of the comment book it says "add book/author". If you click on that, a box will open up. You will want to add a reference by book, so highlight book. Then, type the title of the book you want and hit search. When you see the book you want, click Add. It might look funny in your comment box, but when you click Post of your comment, it should create a link to the book you want. The link helps others looking at your list go directly to that book by clicking on your underlined link. I do hope this helps. If you have any issues, please just ask. Glad to have you here!

Welcome Eric and Jan! Glad you joined us and I'm glad this new flexible format of the challenge works with your reading styles.

It seems I'm in the minority of ratings for this book with my 3*. I liked the book, especially the history with the Indians/Whites and what was going on in the country at that time. Lots of losses for each. I guess I'm not a "everything sums up neatly" kind of person. It was a good story about faith and trusting God's timing rather than our own. I think the trouble I have with Christian fiction is that it is not always believable, and too predictable.

So glad you've joined us Donna! Hope this challenge blesses your heart!

To add an easy link to the books in your list:
As you are typing in the comment box, at the top of the box it says "add book/author". Click on that. When you do, it will give you a popup window that says "add a reference". You can search by title or author. Type in the name of the book and hit search or enter. Books with that title and similar will be listed. When you see the one you want (may have to scroll down), select "Add". Then the book will appear as a link when you post your comment.

Welcome Karen!

It's no problem as it is your list. It just helps others when looking at your list so they don't have to look up each of the books. The "add book/author" feature at the top of the comment box creates a link that takes you right to that book on goodreads. For example:
The Invisible War: What Every Believer Needs to Know about Satan, Demons, and Spiritual Warfare

Great list Zipcaddy! If possible, can you have your titles listed so people can easily search on them? At the top of the comment box, it says add book/author. The book title will create a link. Thanks.

That's a great list Hope!
