I'm sad to say I did not enjoy
My Sister, the Serial Killer at all :( that said I can tell the book was designed to have really unlikeable characters and I do see others could enjoy it, but for me they were TOO unlikeable and I feel like the premise of a sister serial killer was underused.
It is a very short book so I still encourage others to check it out. I really hope others enjoy it more than I did.

wow, thanks for the tip, Lea. The hype was starting to make me consider it as well, so this is enough to turn me off again.

I've been meaning to read My Sister, the Serial Killer all year so I'll read that.."Oooh if that counts I will read that as well! I already read a few of the books posted above and none of the others stood out to me. Thanks!

Thanks for the post! I really wanted a book that focused on Canadian soldiers so I chose
Vimy by Pierre Burton.
Right now I am going through the beast that is IT by Steven King so it might take me a bit to get to it.
Eve wrote: "I'm going to read Crazy Rich Asians this month!"Same! I think that will be a popular one here. I loved the movie, so I am looking forward to reading the book and seeing what everyone else thinks.

this is the first I've heard of the Rebecca remake?! I've actually never seen the original movie, and want to now that I've read the book.
Oh god, I ADORE Lily James, but I agree this casting is all wrong. She can play innocent really well, (I really liked her Natasha in War & Peace) but she is too mature for this. Armie is too young, (feels weird saying this about the male lead for once) and just does not have the range for this.
But really it is the casting for Rebecca that will make or break this. It is hard to make Lily James look plain next to just anyone

I read Rebecca and adored it

I have two books I want to read for this month and I know they both involve friendship but I'm not sure if they have it as main themes. I want to read
Anne of Green Gables and
The Incredible Journey. Would they be appropriate for this?
Sasha wrote: "I've read: Afro-Cuban Tales, The Housekeeper and the Professor and Convenience Store Woman* so far.
Afro-Cuban Tales was interesting, because in the i..."Sasha wrote: "also been reading this series set in Quebec, Canada, which I've never been to Quebec, but still doesn't quite count. :)"Which series set in Quebec did you read? I live in Quebec and I always love to read books set here. :)

I read
A Thousand Splendid Suns and I really enjoyed it. It was a perfect choice for this task because not only was it a great story but it did provide a (basic tbf) history of the past few decades in Afghanistan and I am happy I learned something new about the country I have never been to. Plus every time I read a book focused on women and their friendship to each other it is always a welcome treat.

I finally finished
Outlander!!! I can't believe that fucking book took me almost two months to read. My poor reading challenge needs to be recovered fast.
I will say the second half was better than the first, but I just need to accept this series is just not for me. Over 800 pages of that book what was I thinking??

I read The Kiss Quotient and it was cute. It was a very quick read and I enjoyed the experience.

Can any of you recommend any good f/f books? Greatly appreciated

Been meaning to reread
1984 for awhile so this is a perfect opportunity.

This month I read
Sharp Objects,
Lethal White, and I should be able to finish
Sadieby
Courtney Summers by end of the month because it is pretty short.
Sharp Objects was very disturbing and it honestly left me in a dark mood for two days after I read it. It is weird for books to affect me that much. I still want to watch the show but I decided a little break from that story should be good.
Lethal White was just ok. Way too long and the mystery was just intriguing enough to keep me going the 650 pages at a good pace.
Dainey wrote: "Ohhh, I'm all set for this one! I have The Murder of Roger Ackroyd left over from the unreliable narrator monthAhh I read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd for in April for that theme and really enjoyed it. I think you will too.

This month I plan on reading
Sharp Objects by
Gillian Flynn. Also, if you are a fan of JK Rowling's "Strike" series,
Lethal White conveniently comes out this month on the 18th. Seems like a solid mystery month to me.

Mary Poppins was a sweet read. Did anyone else read it?

Finished Mary Poppins and it was overall really sweet. There is a very racist remark right at the very end of the book which definitely soured the experience, but I can see myself reading chapters of this before bed to my future kids because it is a very sweet and imaginative read. I'm actually surprised she was so against the cartoons in the movie because there were parts of the book that felt like were perfect for animation. How else you perfect a dancing cow?

Thanks for the recs! I wanted something light this month so I chose
Scrappy Little Nobody by
Anna Kendrick. Hopefully it is entertaining and least somewhat funny?
