29753 你好吗! Beijing is a little, ah, smoggy! But when I was there I went to see the forbidden City, temple of heaven, the famous night market, the great wall, the Olympic green were the watercube & birdnest is, the Beijing opera house, & it is a must for the famous Peking Duck!

tereacotta is on my to do list for China!

29753 I recently did a tour around China. A small one but I did have the pleasure of eating some amazing Peking Duck in Peking AKA Beijing.

Mad Scientist also dared to eat deep fried scorpion from an open market in Beijing.

Shanghai was not so adventurous. I did see a subway but veered the other way. There was no way I was eating subway when I could have homemade corner noodles. ;)

29753 The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith The Greyfriar The Rift Walker (Vampire Empire, #2) by Clay Griffith The Rift Walker by Clay Griffith & Susan Griffith

These books are something, I admit, would not normally pick up. However, they were sent to me by the Publisher, PYR. Undoubtedly these are my favorite books ever!

Steampunkery, adventure around nearly every page flip, a vampire prince (not the sparkly kind either), guards that would die for their princess, a kidnapping, political plots, a rude American, dirigibles, country side folk, a beautiful romance with a masked menace, a vampire slayer, & of course a female kick butt bad chick military commander of the vampire swarm. Did I leave something out? I'm sure it is in these beautifully written books.

I would lend these out because I recommend them to everyone... Oh Poppycock!! What am I saying, these books are never leaving my side. They are well, truly that amazing!

29753 Simple...

Favorite 2011 Read.
Dec 23, 2011 04:27AM

29753 I get so side tracked when I listen to music and read. I stop and listen to the music or have to read the same paragraph 10 times to not forget what it just said. :(

29753 Anna wrote: "I actually do both snooks and real books. I'm cheap and refuse to pay for books. I get a lot of books from my library. I have an iPad2 and noticed I'm reading faster on here."

Does the glare from the ipad 2 hurt your eyes?

I have a Nook, Kindle 3G, & a Nookcolor. Why? not sure. I like the Nook & the kindle for overseas. Nookcolor I use for sduko and reading on the plane. It hurts my eyes to actually read books on it too often. :(

I'll be in China for most of this coming year. I will have plenty of ebooks for the months to come. I hope. I will not have much space to take books & with what space I do have I'm not sure I what to bring books I haven't read. What if I don't like them enough to re-read? I will not be able to run down the street and get a book in English either.

Reading + Travel = eReader must!

Dec 23, 2011 03:56AM

29753 **Special Notes**

~You don't have to list your categories before posting the books you're going to read.
~If you put all 12 category lists in one post, you might run out of characters; you might want to split them up into 2 posts like I have below.
~If you choose to do Alphabet Soup, the goal is to try and read 24 letters of the alphabet with 12 books. One for the author's first name, and one for their last. If you read a Sarah Dessen book, and then read Lemony Snicket, one S will be "invisible" because of the S you've already read. However, you can still list the Lemony Snicket book under Alphabet Soup to get credit for the L.
