Time for another update already???

Ok, covers are updated.

Still working, so that's good. They put me on a project for the SEO team, and once that is done I will be filling in for someone going on leave. Up in the air after that, but at least I know they find me useful.

Been playing Cyberpunk 2077, finally. It came out in 2020 and that was a very weird year so I just kind of missed it, then I wasn't sure if I'd like it. Fast forward to 2025: I recently did a replay of both Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. (Double replay, actually - full fresh run then NG+ on both.) I was looking for something to scratch a similar itch and remembered Cyberpunk, so I grabbed it on sale. Finished one playthrough and immediately started another. I'm pretty obsessed with it. LOL

I can't believe the year is halfway gone.

I remember about 15 years ago when I ripped all of my CDs, that's was when I first started using MM. Now here it's 2025 and I've managed to accumulate another stack of CDs that need to be ripped. Still using MM. I've tried just about everything but always come back to MM, mainly because it has the best support for the way I like to tag my Classical and Old Time Radio files, letting me keep the relevant tags front and center just for those collections.

jRiver Media Center comes in a close second on features, but it's just so heavy that even though it mostly does what I want, it couldn't beat MM. But both of them have been pretty solid about syncing whatever files on any device.

Update time! Finished 5 in June, two of which were shorts from the Shivers collection. I was in the mood for some horror but not a lot of it, so small bites instead.

My gaming this month was hitting up some slightly older favorites - Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Haven't yet finished the latter, but getting close. After that I'll be back to Ark Survival Ascended because they released the Ragnarok map finally. Already played on it a bit just to check the performance and it feels nice. Looking forward to exploring on it more to see what they've done with my favorite spots.

Mom is fine.

My cousin and I are planning a train trip to Tampa but we don't know when because my work is up in the air at the moment. I know my hours are going to be lower after next week, and I will be the only contractor left. They're keeping me and they keep telling me to hang on while they find stuff for me to do after this reporting rush is over. Trying to be optimistic. I don't have a lot of options for work so I'm praying that this works out.

Anyway, that's my update. Better go update the covers post before I forget.

The Dark Tower and InCryptid have been on my "You know, I should probably read these" mental list for a long time. I read the first couple of DT books ages ago. Like decades. So I'd have to start over.

I feel like many of us have been saying some variation of this since we first started this thing. :D Reading sometimes feels like a living thing that we only barely control, like an unending stream of universes that we have the privilege of dipping into, but it's sometimes futile to fight the current.

Oh hey! I'm actually remembering to post my monthly update before the middle of the month! :D

Mom continues to do well, thankful for that.

Stopped playing Oblivion, started playing Cubic Odyssey, then switched to X4: Foundations, which I hadn't played in at least a year. There's something really satisfying about hiring pilots for my ships and then having them fly me around. :D

Edit: Oh, and I read 5 books but one was a novella.

And once again, I blew past the beginning of the month.

Read 4 books in April. Consistency.

Mom was in the hospital twice last month but she's doing really, really good now.

No, I do not. I feel like there used to be a way but now all the potential links just go to the review page, I don't see a way to just make a progress update if the book isn't showing on the home page.

It's working for me. But I noticed that you have 87 books on your Currently Reading shelf, maybe it's glitching out because it is having trouble parsing 10 to display?

Interesting. There's a video game called Hundred Days about winemaking. PC and Android. Strategy / tycoon type game but very relaxing.

I remember when my mom had to have that done ages ago. Believe me when I say, it's worth following the recovery instructions 100%. My mom thought she knew better and ended up with a weird septum.

Ain't nothin' wrong with gaming. Been doing a lot of that myself lately. :D

Only three books in February. But one of them was The Passage. Which, if I'm being totally honest, I did not actually finish. :D Went most of the way but it just lost me after the first part and I tried to hang in there but eventually I gave up and moved on. I just really, really loved the first part and couldn't recapture the magic after that part was over.

Anyway.

Been doing a lot of tea drinking lately. It's not unusual for me to make a pot once a week or so but I discovered JusTea teas from Kenya and I'm hooked. Drinking tea on the daily the last few weeks.

I had no idea Audition was based on a book. I have watched the film a few times.

I went ahead and bought What You Are Looking For Is in the Library and wishlisted the rest so that I can keep track of them for later purchase or library hunting.

I can relate to the odd as well, I think that's the main draw for me. The de-normalization or deconstruction of the status quo. Basically outsider fiction. That's why I loved both Convenience Store Woman and Earthling. So any recommendations along those lines would be very welcome.

Libraries can be very bad at maintaining series. For both paper and ebooks.

You did links and everything. I didn't do links on my update post. I should look into one or two of those books. I want to read more Japanese novels because I almost always enjoy them.
