I scrapped the entire original... rofl...

Not at all... 40,000 words is a good size book that seems to sell well...I think it is long enough to get a good story out and short enough so it easy for people to dive into... my fave books are anywhere between 30,000 and 50,000. I am kind of pleased and ever so slightly embarrased that you asked me... heee heee... How far have you got with it, and who are you submitting it to? RJ x
