It's paranormal romance.
Book blurb: It is 1807. Adrian Segrave, Viscount Bournemouthe, and Lady Emmaline Deramore are about to wed and British Society teems with excitement at this imminent love match. But Madeleine de Brandeville, a mysterious Frenchwoman, has her lustful and ambitious sights on the groom. When she sets her cruel plan in motion, she leaves devastation in her path.
Heartbroken, Emmaline embarks on an adventure she'd never imagined having. As the world changes and chaos brews, her fate becomes linked with the Valthreans, a group of immortals who must learn to face a deadly enemy that threatens their place in the human world. But all the while, there is one thing she wants more than any other--to get back her man.
When she finally finds her prize, her worst nightmares are far from over and the toughest battle is yet to begin. Will love win the war in the end?

We'll be reading the book with the most votes first, in April-May... and the runner up we'll read and discuss June-July.
Thanks so much! Your book nominations have broadened my reading library. :)

(We'd originally chosen Seasons, but since it's not available yet on multiple ereading platforms, we're going to hold out until it's more widely distributed. Not everyone has a Kindle, and not everyone wants to buy a paperback! I'll keep an eye on the book. BTW, the author is super nice. I contacted her to ask if she had plans to distribute it to other e-reading platforms.)
So, what book would you like to read and discuss in Feb.-March? The book must be indie published and must be available on multiple ereading platforms.
Let me know by next Tuesday; I'll open the poll for voting on Wednesday.
Thanks so much!

I really liked the talk about 59% through the book about lessons taken and "is it worth it." I also enjoyed the dreams in Camp Saif; the way they were told, it reminded me a lot of The Things They Carried short story (in a good way).
Lately I've been reading much, much lighter novels, but I found myself enjoying this meaty read, which kept my mind engaged and my fingers itching to turn the pages and see what happens to all the characters. Not an easy feat.

So what surprises me is, instead of hooking readers with action, Amidei begins by hooking readers (at least this reader) onto a character. If he hadn't begun the novel with us looking at Jon, I must admit I wouldn't feel so attached to him. I would have eagerly hurried past Jon to the action-driving character/s. Especially K. 'Cuz Iraq is where the *action* action is at, and the action at the university isn't as life-and-death action.

We don't have a board yet where we share reviews or discuss books other than the ones we're currently reading. Good idea!
Sorry it's taken me a while to respond to this thread! It's been a busy month. Please feel free to ask anything!
:)

It sounds like many people like the idea of reading a book every other month. Another member had the idea of choosing a couple books in advance, giving us extra reading time. So... let's nominate books! I'll give us until the end of the week to nominate an indie read. Then I'll list the books in a poll. The two books with the most votes will be the ones we'll read, one in December-January and one in Feb.-March.
We're open for nominations of indie books by authors inside AND outside the group. If you've got a book in mind, please nominate it by replying to this discussion thread. Include the book title, author, the genre.
Nominations will close on Saturday. I'll send out a group message when the voting is open.
Nominate away!
P.S. The idea for a discussion thread on new releases and promotions has been a huge success! Thanks!

Authors, do you have a new release, a giveaway, a promotion, or a contest you'd like to let the group know about? Please post about it in this thread!
