71282 Hola :)))
Oct 16, 2015 07:13AM

71282 Oh hey!
71282 ((Sorry,didn't get a notification))

Carren's heart thundered in her chest as they made their way through the forest. The trees loomed over them basking them in partial darkness. The trees themselves looked threatening.
All of a sudden a strong sense of deja-vu came over her.The gun was gripped tightly in her hands. The sky rumbled overhead them. Before she knew it,it was a heavy downpour. She had to calm down. This was not the time to get worked up.Otherwise she was going to drown them.
She closed her eyes, trying to get a hold of herself but the control slipped. The mud was sloshy under their feet, making it hard to move. His hand on her arm was the only thing keeping her upright. She didn't think she could handle anything like the last time they were attacked. The dark clouds completely obscured the sun, leaving them in complete darkness. This was not happening.
August kept moving however. She couldn't understand how he knew where to go.Everything looked the same to her.Every tree, every bush, every path.Yet he knew. She guessed it was his strong sense of smell that kept him going without even pausing.
At first she thought it was just the sound of their shoes splashing the mud.She felt something behind her.The odd feeling of being watched carefully. Her skin crawled.
She turned to look behind her and before she knew something had a hold of her leg and she went down.
Her grip on the gun loosened but she didn't let go of it completely.
71282 ((Oh it was a gun.Sorry for the mix-up;) ))

Too much information, she thought,as she aimed took her stance and aimed at the cans. Her heart rate picked up as she placed her finger on the trigger. She kept her eyes on the cans.
She pulled the lever up and back and then fired. And did she finally understand what he meant. She felt it all the way to her shoulder as the gun recoiled. And it hit the can a mile off target.
She rolled her shoulder, shaking it loose a bit.Gods, this was harder to do than it looked.Frowning, she took aim again.Missed.
The third time however it graced the target.Sure,it knocked over. But she guessed what really mattered was hitting it at the dead center. She hoped nobody saw that.
"That was pretty alright, right?",she asked, looking up at him.
71282 Carren didn't comment on the age part of the conversation.
She reached out and took hold of it.Boy,did it look lighter in his hand. She slowly inspected it.She'd never held a real rifle in her hand and forced herself to not let it show in her face. She was a tad bit intimidated by this.
She couldn't wrap her head around a 10-year-old August playing around with weapons like these.Sure, she understood his reasons, but she guessed even his childhood had to have been pretty rough.Always on the run.She wondered if that was how her life would turn out to become here on out.
He talked to her like she was a little kid.It was no time to be petty. All she could do was make this easier for him. After all,he kind of had to revisit his past teaching her about all this anyway.
She fiddled with the rifle for a while, having no idea how to hold it.Watching people shoot in movies made it look like it was a piece of cake. She wondered how they held it upright, let alone shoot.
She held the gun up at an odd angle, she knew, and closed one of her eyes aiming at a tree.
"Okay...so now what?",she asked.
71282 Without leaving any space for words,he abruptly left the table. She knew her words got to him when he slid his hand out of hers and walked off into the kitchen. She knew she should help him but she guessed right now what he wanted was a few seconds to compose himself. She doubted that she was the first person he was admitting this all to.
She decided to give him the space he needed and waited for him.She was scared to look around, fearful of what she might see in his house.

"....need to know how to shoot a gun",August said, returning with whole bunch of weaponry she couldn't even recognize. She gulped.
Shoot someone? She hoped whatever road they were headed down,it wouldn't come down to shooting someone.Demon or human.
She stood up and her expression hardened She could do this. She had to do this. The answer lay ahead and there was no point in looking back to the naive person she once was.
71282 She squeezed his hand back, trying to comfort him without words since she was in no position right now to offer him words.Instead, she hoped he understood the gesture. For the first time she realized that she had more in common with him than she realized. They both had gone through the pain of losing someone and had to cope with life after.
At least, she had had Aunt Lauren. She was gone now too.But she hadn't been completely alone. She doubted that he had anyone to help him through this. And since this was a bit of a touchy subject she decided to let it drop, because he obviously found it difficult to talk about.
"You're not like them",she murmured, tightening her grip."If you were, you wouldn't have saved me.If you were,I wouldn't be here now". She tried meeting his gaze but he continued staring at their hands."Thank you.I'm not sure I know where I would have ended up if I hadn't met you".
The first time she laid eyes on him,she never knew that a tormented soul lay beneath this tough exterior. The more she knew about him,the more realistic and...human he seemed despite what she saw he could do.She meant every word that she said.He honestly couldn't believe that he was one of them.He was damaged after the loss. But so was she.Yet,here they were, still hanging on to dear life.
71282 Right now for Carren, his hand holding hers kept her grounded,as her mind slowly processed his words. She hadn't really thought about it that way. That her real parents could actually be hunters. That thought sent her mind reeling.
She'd only ever thought of the parents who had raised her.Her pain had been over the thought that she was not really their child. And it wasn't so much that she was adopted but that they had kept it from her for so long a time.At the end, they could not even confess it themselves. But,what could have been the reason?
It never once occurred to her that her biological parents could be alive.Who were they really? Why did they abandon her?She didn't want to think of herself as someone's mistake that they thought to be disposed of at someone else' doorstep.
Even if they had good intentions behind this, she didn't think it was fair to her.She had lived all her life trying so hard to fit in.
Because of them, she had a hard time fitting in.Anywhere.
There hadn't been a single soul to explain to her why these bizarre things happened the way it did.
She was one walking disaster to everyone around her.If she got too mad or too emotional, something went drastically wrong. She'd spent her whole life trying to keep her emotions in check. And this was why she had intimacy issues.
But,somehow confessing all this to August peeled away each layer of the walls she had built around her.She felt it crumbling as the emotions took a hold of her.The storm that rumbled outside was further proof.
"Did it ever occur to my parents...that I might grow up to become...not normal?",she said for a lack of a better word to explain what she was.
"You knew your whole life that you were different, didn't you?",she asked, wondering what his life could have been like.He might never have had a single day worrying about why he could do the things he did.I didn't know whether knowing or having an answer to everything made it easier.
71282 ((Take your time.I'm certainly taking mine writing this one ;) ))

Carren swallowed. Her throat felt constricted. She stared at a spot behind him unable to bring herself to look at him.She had to tell him. This was no time to be making excuses.Maybe August needed to know this to piece some things together.Besides, there was no point keeping it a secret anyway seeing as there was no harm that could come over letting him know this simple truth. It was time she got over her petty sentiments and get her head in the game.
They were at a potential risk of dying at the rate things were going. She put an end to her train of thoughts right there.Memories of her aunt were resurfacing and it wasn't the right time to break down now.She saved it for when she would be alone.
"Um,it's....There was just this one night I heard my parents arguing about something. So I went downstairs and..",her voice slightly wavered,"...I heard them talk about me.My dad was telling my mom that he felt it shouldn't be kept a secret from me the fact that I was adopted. Those were the last words I heard that night because I had zoned out. Here, were two people I'd known my entire life saying I was born a stranger to them.I couldn't listen to the rest and just left".
Her eyes teared up and she tried hard not to let the tears roll down her cheeks. She wasn't in the least bit comfortable with crying in front of him.Once, she got a hold of herself, her eyes drifted back to his.
