I’m enjoying it, too. Green’s history is in writing from the male point of view and her
Delta Crossroads Trilogy is excellent, as well as the novella spinoffs. She had another series where the main character was female but she was morally gray and fascinating. All of those books were written and released independently.
I’m beginning to think it’s the Bookouture editors that have a formulaic plan because Green’s writing and plotting was so sharp when she didn’t have a publisher. And, they’re smart enough to leave Angela Marsons and DI Kim Stone alone.

They have a way to go to find solid ground, especially considering his family’s feelings about her.

This was just wrong on so many levels and FBI agents just don’t do this.
I read a lot of detective stories and Eve Dallas doesn’t do this…anymore. And, she’s a stickler for planning. The only time she gets into trouble is when she’s caught off guard, not for doing something rash and stupid.
Tracy Crosswhite is another smart detective. It’s rare for her to do something rash, even though she often gets caught in some dicey situations, again, not because she behaved stupidly.
They don’t get any smarter than DI Kim Stone and she’s always careful. When she gets into trouble, it’s to save someone else.
Now Kate Burkholder holds the honor of consistently doing the dumbest stuff that always gets her into personal peril. You can count on it in every book.
I’m a big fan of Harry Bosch who might go in without backup but is smart about it. I’m sure there are other male detectives that do stupid stuff but the gender bias defines them as tough and courageous. It’s a good question to explore.

Ditto for me. Saint Maggie realized life as she knew it was forever gone. She took the easy way out, as usual. Never her fault.

Like Robin, I loved the harmony of their co-parenting. But, it seems to be working because there isn’t a new man in Nikki’s life. Stalker is the perfect descriptor for Tyler and I don’t think this is over.

And I thought it was just me. The protocol in labs is so stringent that one person can’t pull this off, unless it’s the person at the top of the food chain who has override capabilities.
This was a mess and they should have accounted for it. Nikki’s an FBI agent and knows how their own lab works. Once they’d secured Ava, no way should they have left her alone.

Exactly.

I was 99% certain Maggie had somehow tampered with that test. I wasn’t sure if Joe had his hands in this but was still thinking he’d harmed Dana.

I guessed she was Zach’s mother early on but didn’t think she was who Liam was seeing. Nice twist.

Yep. Joe finally fully earned my earlier suspicions but I thought he’d sexually assaulted Dana.

This gut was all ego and show with &$%# for brains. He was stubborn for all the wrong reasons and none of it had anything to do with poor Zach being found. Maybe the child was third on his list of priorities.

People who regularly work with addicts can tell when they’re lying. For everyone at that center to be surprised at the test result had me smelling a rat, too. This led straight to Maggie.

I kept asking myself this question and landed where you all did about him knowing the full story of what had been done to her that night. He identified with her as a victim first. Just imagine how awful it was to see what John did to her and then she witnesses her parents death scene. He focused his anger towards John and Hardin. He might have felt a little guilty about the affair, too.

I couldn’t imagine her killing Kellan but I knew she was involved in some way that led to Dana being killed.

I’m with Lauren. She was way too manic about it and I guessed Zach was her son early on. Caitlin was very controlled in the first story. This was different.

Gotta admit it was awfully coincidental. I was wary about him from this point forward.

It was bad. Put her permanently on my suspect list.

I agree, he was counting on no one finding those bodies, ever. He would have later disposed of them when he had more time.

It’s wise that Nikki take her time before introducing Rory to Lacey. But Tyler will always be a problem as he’s still in love with her.
I understand Mark’s parents not being ready to kiss and make up. But at some point, they need to realize Nikki was abused, too.

Bobby caught me flatfooted! Never suspected him. But Mindy? Something felt off about her from the onset. I think her husband’s suicide just unleashed some crazy that was already there.
