The CDC estimates it takes a woman an average of 16 years from the onset of symptoms to be diagnosed with von Willebrand Disease (VWD). While VWD is the most common bleeding disorder affecting women, current data estimate that as many as 1% of women in the United States may have a bleeding disorder and many are unaware of their condition.
