Comments on 2012 Young Adult Standalone Challenge - page 1

whoever added Team Human again... please stop. Team Human has a sequel, therefore, it doesn't belong on this list. I'm going to delete it from this list again, so please don't add it back.

I also deleted Witch's Brew by Heidi R. Sea because it's part of a ten book series, and As Dead As It Gets because that's the last book for Bad Girls Don't Die.

Torn by Cat Clarke will be published on December 22nd, 2011, and is therefore not a 2012 release.

Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is coming out December 27th, 2011 so it is not a 2012 release (but I am excited for this one!)

It doesn't look like Partials by Dan Wells will be a standalone. On the book page it now says (Partials #1) by the title. Plus, it ends on a cliffhanger.

I looked into it, and it turns out it's indeed the first in a series. I deleted it from the list :)

Thanks for all your help! We really need to go through this list again... It is difficult with standalones, since a lot of times the series isn't announced / widely broadcasted for a bit.

Yeah I know.. I use lists like this one to find standalones, because nowadays everything seems to be part of a series :/

Removed Fated and Crewel (both were in a series) and The Night Circus (2011 release).

Good job with the list, though, Hafsah and Britta!

And The Night Circus is adult, haha. not sure why somebody would add that to the YA standalone challenge. :p

I wouldn't say The Night Circus is a purely adult title - it has crossover appeal and is marketed as both YA and adult. It's a difficult one to list..

i haven't read it, but with the crossover appeals, it's usually labelled adult or YA with crossover appeal. Like Shatter Me is a YA with crossover appeal. just something confusing. :p

The list is awsome keep up the good work. Found some good books to read and not have to wait for the next book in a series. (i hate beucase i forget and have to go back and re-read the last book)

hay i just read that "Cybernetic" is the first a series, so you might have to take that one off the list.

Hi everyone! My book Candlewax will have a sequel, so I am disqualifying it from this contest. In fact, the first 1/4 of the sequel, Tabrek, is already written. I can see why Candlewax was added to this list, though. It is practically a standalone. Only when you get to the Epilogue do you realize that trouble is on the horizon--again. Thanks to the people who voted. I appreciate your support!!

Thanks, C. :) I think a lot of people added books to this list because they want the books to be standalones or just want the book to count toward the challenge (I just deleted Wings of the Wicked off of this list, which is the sequel to Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton.)

And if anybody else knows of a book on this list that isn't a standalone, just comment to let us know, okay?

Thank you! I deleted them. Standalones are a tricky thing because when we made this list most didn't even have covers and the (blah #1) isn't added until later on! I really should go through this list.... haha

I'm confused about Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley...the book on the list here (#137) says it was published Feb 2012, the paperback (another edition), was published and released in 2010...I think in Australia. So is does that knock it out of 2012's challenge?
