whoever added Team Human again... please stop. Team Human has a sequel, therefore, it doesn't belong on this list. I'm going to delete it from this list again, so please don't add it back.

I also deleted Witch's Brew by Heidi R. Sea because it's part of a ten book series, and As Dead As It Gets because that's the last book for Bad Girls Don't Die.

message 2: by Hafsah (new)

Hafsah Faizal Thanks for helping out, Ashelynn.

Lis (The Reader L) Awesome list.
Thanks!

message 4: by Daph (new)

Daph (Loving Books) Torn by Cat Clarke will be published on December 22nd, 2011, and is therefore not a 2012 release.

Thank you for telling me! I removed it from the list.

message 6: by Audris (new)

Audris Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is coming out December 27th, 2011 so it is not a 2012 release (but I am excited for this one!)

Britta Audris wrote: "Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is coming out December 27th, 2011 so it is not a 2012 release (but I am excited for this one!)"

We are including from December 27, 2011 to December 31 2012. Thanks for letting us know though :)

message 8: by Lore (new)

Lore It doesn't look like Partials by Dan Wells will be a standalone. On the book page it now says (Partials #1) by the title. Plus, it ends on a cliffhanger.

message 9: by Hafsah (new)

Hafsah Faizal Oh no! I will take care of that. Thanks!

message 10: by Daph (new)

Daph (Loving Books) Endless (The Violet Eden Chapters, #4) is up on this list while it isn't a standalone :)

Thank you! I'll take care of it :)

message 12: by Delaney (new)

Delaney I thought Alice in Zombieland would be a new series, unless it isn't then sorry.

Daph (Loving Books) C.H.O.M.P wrote: "I thought Alice in Zombieland would be a new series, unless it isn't then sorry."

I looked into it, and it turns out it's indeed the first in a series. I deleted it from the list :)

Daph (Loving Books) Removed Stormdancer (first in a series), Stupid Fast and Sean Griswold's Head (both 2011 releases)

Britta Lvngbooks wrote: "Removed Stormdancer (first in a series), Stupid Fast and Sean Griswold's Head (both 2011 releases)"

Thanks for all your help! We really need to go through this list again... It is difficult with standalones, since a lot of times the series isn't announced / widely broadcasted for a bit.

Yeah I know.. I use lists like this one to find standalones, because nowadays everything seems to be part of a series :/

And you're welcome! :)

message 18: by Linda (new)

Linda Removed Fated and Crewel (both were in a series) and The Night Circus (2011 release).

Good job with the list, though, Hafsah and Britta!

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

And The Night Circus is adult, haha. not sure why somebody would add that to the YA standalone challenge. :p

message 20: by Daph (new)

Daph (Loving Books) Ashelynn wrote: "And The Night Circus is adult, haha. not sure why somebody would add that to the YA standalone challenge. :p"

I wouldn't say The Night Circus is a purely adult title - it has crossover appeal and is marketed as both YA and adult. It's a difficult one to list..

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

i haven't read it, but with the crossover appeals, it's usually labelled adult or YA with crossover appeal. Like Shatter Me is a YA with crossover appeal. just something confusing. :p

message 22: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion The list is awsome keep up the good work. Found some good books to read and not have to wait for the next book in a series. (i hate beucase i forget and have to go back and re-read the last book)

message 23: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Carrion hay i just read that "Cybernetic" is the first a series, so you might have to take that one off the list.

message 24: by Britta (new)

Britta Elsa wrote: "hay i just read that "Cybernetic" is the first a series, so you might have to take that one off the list."

Thank you! Please let us know if you see any others we got wrong.

message 25: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Peterson Would "On a Dark Wing" by Jordan Dane count?

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Stephanie, I'm not one of the people running this challenge, but I think it should since it also released Dec. 27. We'll see what Britta and Hasfah has to say about it!

message 27: by Hafsah (new)

Hafsah Faizal Stephanie, yes it does!
Ashelynn, thanks for monitoring the list so much <3

message 28: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Peterson Awesome!! :-) Thanks! That will definitely be one of the books that I am going to read in the next month or two!

message 29: by Soleil (new)

Soleil ahhh!!! i can't wait to read all of these.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

i can't either, Soleil! they all sound SO AMAZING. have you read any?

message 31: by Alicia (last edited Feb 16, 2012 08:25AM) (new)

Alicia

I added my book. I hope that's okay. It's a standalone, YA fantasy.
Echo by Alicia Wright Brewster

Sorry! Here is the right link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/v...

message 33: by Alicia (new)

Alicia I signed up. Thanks for the opportunity!

message 34: by C. (new)

C. Sims Hi everyone! My book Candlewax will have a sequel, so I am disqualifying it from this contest. In fact, the first 1/4 of the sequel, Tabrek, is already written. I can see why Candlewax was added to this list, though. It is practically a standalone. Only when you get to the Epilogue do you realize that trouble is on the horizon--again. Thanks to the people who voted. I appreciate your support!!

Thanks, C. :) I think a lot of people added books to this list because they want the books to be standalones or just want the book to count toward the challenge (I just deleted Wings of the Wicked off of this list, which is the sequel to Angelfire by Courtney Allison Moulton.)

And if anybody else knows of a book on this list that isn't a standalone, just comment to let us know, okay?

message 36: by Rachael (last edited Mar 24, 2012 07:38PM) (new)

Rachael The Other Life (The Other Life, #1) by Susanne Winnacker is the first book in a series.

message 38: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Looks like #122 - Theifs Covenant, #124 - Breathe, and #151 The Killables are books that are firsts in a series.

Thank you! I deleted them. Standalones are a tricky thing because when we made this list most didn't even have covers and the (blah #1) isn't added until later on! I really should go through this list.... haha

message 40: by Rogier (new)

Rogier remove fractured light /its a trilogy

message 41: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Wonderful list for those of us who don't want to get tangled in any long series. One question: How do you delete books from a list??

message 42: by Victoria (last edited Apr 15, 2012 04:51PM) (new)

Victoria Alert: #123, #206, and #214

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Vicki *no time to read. like ever* wrote: "Alert: #123, #206, and #214"

thanks! #206 is actually a standalone, as Kiersten White and PW has confirmed this.

also, just a reminder to those people adding books to this list: PLEASE only add books that you know for a fact are standalones and are coming out in 2012!

You must be a Goodreads librarian. If you are not, comment here and one of the co-hosts will delete it (or a few other people who have been helping us out)

I think I meant the book that is now #203, the False Prince (or something like that)

at the top it says:

The SARC is hosted by IceyBooks and I Like These Books (edit) <--- click on edit and it'll lead you to an edit page where you have to click "delete books" or something like that.

Great, thanks!

message 48: by Sharlene (new)

Sharlene This is a great list. Have added a few to my TBR list. Series take up too much of my energy. Need some fresh reads!

I know EXACTLY how you feel!

message 50: by Amanda (new)

Amanda I'm confused about Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley...the book on the list here (#137) says it was published Feb 2012, the paperback (another edition), was published and released in 2010...I think in Australia. So is does that knock it out of 2012's challenge?
