Fancy a stab at Richard Flanagan's but am waiting for the price to drop. Forever the cheapskate.
;OP

After reading each book's summary I voted for the two that stood out as books I would actually like to read - We are all Completely Beside Ourselves and The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

I know I wouldn't like the Ali Smith as I hated her 'The Accidental' and though I admit Jacobson is the last word in wit and hilarity, I'll stick to his newspaper columns rather than wade through another entire book of his.

And that's exactly what I did. :D

I bought Richard Flanagan's book The Narrow Road to the Deep North a while ago, before it was on the shortlist, but haven't had time to read it yet (you know what they say: 'So many books, so little time...'). I've read three of his previous novels though and loved them, so I'm pretty sure this one will go down well too :-)

Our favourite turned out to be the one the judges picked, as Richard Flanagan won the Booker yesterday!! :-)

Hey - aren't we a very clever, discerning group of readers here. Maybe the Nobel panel should also listen to us.
