Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Haven't read any of 'em! Sorry, Bettie.

Jeanette (Ms. Feisty) Well, sheesh, I guess I should try to read one or two of these. I've only attempted one of them, and would have to vote against it. :(

Cheryl Thanks for the invite, Bettie. I haven't read any of these books but will have to try them.

Bettie Haven't read any myself LOL, just started the list up because that's what I do best.

Fancy a stab at Richard Flanagan's but am waiting for the price to drop. Forever the cheapskate.
;OP

B the BookAddict Bettie, the Man Booker Shortlist and I do not very often see eye-to-eye. This is one of those times. I haven't read any of these books. But thanks for the invite.

Pat Ditto, Bettie. Haven't read any but I marked The Narrow Road to the Deep North last year "to read" for some reason so I'll vote for that one at least.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads I have friends who've liked We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves. That's the only one on the list I'm familiar with, really. So I'll vote for that one.

Sarah (is clearing her shelves) Like most of the other invitees I've never read any of these, in fact have barely even heard of any of them and only know the names Ali Smith and Richard Flanagan.

After reading each book's summary I voted for the two that stood out as books I would actually like to read - We are all Completely Beside Ourselves and The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Helen Hi Bettie, don't know if this is going to be valid as I'm voting for a book I haven't read yet. I have read the one I put in 2nd place though I'm not entirely convinced it should be on this list.
I know I wouldn't like the Ali Smith as I hated her 'The Accidental' and though I admit Jacobson is the last word in wit and hilarity, I'll stick to his newspaper columns rather than wade through another entire book of his.

And that's exactly what I did. :D

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) It will be interesting to see if our favourite will be the same as the one the judges pick...

I bought Richard Flanagan's book The Narrow Road to the Deep North a while ago, before it was on the shortlist, but haven't had time to read it yet (you know what they say: 'So many books, so little time...'). I've read three of his previous novels though and loved them, so I'm pretty sure this one will go down well too :-)

Our favourite turned out to be the one the judges picked, as Richard Flanagan won the Booker yesterday!! :-)

Hey - aren't we a very clever, discerning group of readers here. Maybe the Nobel panel should also listen to us.
