The Translator is off to a big lead. I thought her short The Museum was good but not great- I'd rather read Woman at Point Zero, Distant View of a Minaret or The Swallows of Kabul though. In the case of The Swallows it's partly because I've not yet read a book by an Algerian writer.
Woman at Point Zero and Distant View of a Minaret have higher avg goodreads ratings than The Translator and are also in "50 Books by African Women". I'm surprised Minaret doesn't have any votes as yet. Maybe a lot of group members have already read it?

I will be reading Woman at Point Zero. I already have a copy I bought a month ago. I had it in my to-read list at about #60 but have just moved it up. I'm looking forward to reading it and discussing. I noted that it is listed at #12 in the Listopia "Africa's 100 Best books of 20th century", besides the "50 Books by African Women" list.

I am ahead of the times, as I have borrowed it for the 50AW - so I read it last week - I can reveal that it is a great book (so great choice voters!)
