Dear Maggie, I think I am drawn to any time between the years 1913 to about 1954, the year that heralded the end of post-WW2 rationing in Britain.

Why does Maurice say to Maisie, turn to James he has always been there? James never seemed interested in Maisie before his return to England. He He and Maisie never really seemed to converse or be in the same area for longer than a fleeing momentum if ever. Why and how is it Maurice aware of this supposedly long held attraction?
