Lane Stone asked Jacqueline Winspear:

I am so excited to have a ticket to see you at the Smithsonian on March 20! How long did it take you to write "Maisie Dobbs"? And how long did "In This Grave Hour" take?

Jacqueline Winspear Maisie Dobbs took about 4 months to write, but of course more time to revise and get ready for publication (I wrote it while recovering from a very serious riding accident). I am on a "book per year" contract, so I have to write quite quickly - especially if you consider that one month minimum is spent on book tour, and at least one month on planning, and I have to do research which usually involves travel.
