I am so excited to have a ticket to see you at the Smithsonian on March 20! How long did it take you to write "Maisie Dobbs"? And how long did "In This Grave Hour" take?

Maisie Dobbs took about 4 months to write, but of course more time to revise and get ready for publication (I wrote it while recovering from a very serious riding accident). I am on a "book per year" contract, so I have to write quite quickly - especially if you consider that one month minimum is spent on book tour, and at least one month on planning, and I have to do research which usually involves travel.

I am a HUGE fan of your Maisie Dobbs series. I devour each book as it's released. I love the journey Maisie seems to be on and that she meditates and uses intuition to solve her cases. She is such a strong female role model. What inspired you to create Maisie? I hope you will continue writing books about her for many years to come.

The covers of your novels by artist Andrew Davidson are what first brought me to your work. I don't bother to pick up a book if the covers don't appeal. Then I read the book blurb, and with key words that resonate, I read the first few lines of the book. Would love to know how you began your association with Davidson, and anything you would care to share about how you work together?
