Hi Jacqueline, I am a new fan of your books and I am really enjoying them My question is what sort of jobs did you do before becoming a writer?

My work was mainly in marketing and sales, though I also had a personal/professional coaching practice and was a freelance writer specializing in international education, working on assignment for a couple of professional journals. I was working in marketing when my first novel was published and only gave up that work when the book touring became a bit difficult to do with a full-time job. I was writing articles and essays for a long time before Maisie Dobbs was published, and I continued to do that for some years afterwards - it's something I still enjoy very much.

I am interested in the role that meditation play has played throughout Maisie's life and Billy's practice of Pilates to rehabilitate from his war injuries. Although these are well known practices today I would imagine that they ere uncommon in the England of Maisie and Billy's era. How did you decide to include these? Are they interests of your own?
