This book inspired me to write my first book review also. Thanks wouldn't suffice. Who is your real life inspiration, the basis for your strong women leads?

My mother has been a strong influence – the grandmother in the book, Sabitri, lives in Kolkata at the same time as my mother did, and some of her early life when she goes to college, was based on my mother's influences.

I just read your book the Palace of Illusions. I am Indian and Hindu and I have grown up with the story of Mahabharata, just like you said you had in your introduction. Reading this has changed my entire perspective on the epic tale. I still have goosebumps from reading it. How did you get this idea to write Draupadi's viewpoint in the Mahabharata?
