Thanks so much for writing, You are one of the few authors that I've read who can have an exciting story without somehow compromising the characters or setting. I'm growing curious though, how does Royce get from who he is in The Death of Dulgath, to The Crown Conspiracy? He's obviously the same person, but with some edges rounded off. Will we get to see this happen? Thanks

Michael J. Sullivan Hey Eric, thanks for asking. It's a process, to be sure. He's like granite and it with each book of The Riyria Chronicles we get to see a bit more of how he "comes around." He's moved a remarkably long way between The Crown Tower and The Death of Dulgath.

As for whether you'll see the full transition or not, it depends on how many Chronicle books are released. I'd rather have Royce and Hadrian leave too early than stay too long. Given that, I write the Chronicles as standalone so I can stop the tales at any time. To tell the full arc would take 10 books and I have three out now and I'm writing the 4th (The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter). I won't know if there will be a 5th until I see how people feel after the 4th. If they want more, well I'm more than happy to do so, but if I get the indication that people are getting 'tired of the pair' then whatever book came out last would be the end of that series.

I'm cautiously optimistic that people will want more - but until I hear from them, I can't say for sure.
