Hi Michael. I just finished Age of Myth (the first of your books that I've read), and I absolutely loved it! I wanted to start reading Theft of Swords, but I understand that the characters in your Legends of the First Empire series are referenced as legends in the Riyria Revelations and Chronicles series. Will I get any Legends of the First Empire series spoilers if I read the Riyria series books?

Hey Tara,
Well, first thanks for giving Age of Myth a try! I'm so glad you enjoyed the reads. You can absolutely read the Riyria books after reading Age of Myth. When you find out various aspects of "the entire tale" changes your perspective, but both should provide a rewarding experience. If anything, you'll be "one up" on the characters in the book because you'll hear about this person or that person and be able to say, "Oh, hell no. They weren't like that at all!" The thing to remember is history is written by the victors and what the people in "Riyria time" think about the past may be quite different than the way things actually occurred. Also, keep in mind that truth is distorted and just because Riyria may say "this occurred" doesn't mean it actually did.
In any case, I know a lot of people who are reading exactly as you are -- starting with Age of Myth....then reading Revelations and Chronicles, then coming back for Age of Swords, and they've each expressed that they love the way the story unfolds for them. I hope you do too.

Hi, Michael! I'm reading Wintertide at the moment and the whole series is absolutely brilliant! (I am not saying this in order to flatter you only to get my question answered, I really mean it!) So the question - If someone is trying to write a book, but in the same time is reading books he is loving and are inspiring him, will this affect the book he is writting in a way either as a story or atmosphere?

Maybe because 2020 is evil I haven't been able to connect w/ your main site: Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.riyria.blogspot.com because this website requires a secure connection. Can you create a secure connection? I doubt the issue is on my end lol.
