Goodreads asked J.S. Frankel:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

J.S. Frankel That's a great question. My only 'mystery' is how I managed to come up with plots for my stories. That is, you'd have the backstory of HOW I got the idea for my novels. Sounds weird, but follow me on this.

Most writers struggle over coming up with an idea. Me, never--at least, not yet. I get my inspiration from songs I listen to, pictures I see, throwaway comments made by others on this forum or on facebook, and then my imagination takes over.

However, once I got stuck. I had a basic idea of what I wanted to do with something I had in mind, but couldn't figure out which direction to go in. I had three ways to work it, and NONE of them seemed plausible or even possible.

I hated it. Hated not being in control, hated the idea of giving up. Then I took a break and went to YouTube to listen to some music. A song came on, Starlight, by ELO, and from there...came Star Maps. It will be re-released on in late April to early May.
