Goodreads asked Joey W. Hill:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Joey W. Hill My nuclear family was a mystery to me in many ways - extraordinary, flawed, strong, sad and amazing. They have become in so many ways the foundation for emotional issues I've explored in my fictional books. I've often thought about writing their story, primarily as a vehicle for me to personally to puzzle out why we all took the paths we did, and how the tangling of those paths influenced our choices. But to date, I've always shied away from the subject matter. Too close to home - I've never wanted to write non-fiction, and the family issues are easier to explore in fiction. I prefer to infuse my characters with those elements and analyze them that way, rather than offer direct representations of my loved ones. And the creative process saves a lot on therapy bills, lol!
