Whichdo you prefer, writing novels of people and places of the past or more recent? I enjoyed "China Dolls". But I loved "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan". Will there be any more Red Princess mysteries?

Lisa See I like to write about the deep past and more recent past. As I think about the ten books I've written, I bet it's about 50/50.

Right now I don't have any plans to continue with them, but that doesn't mean I won't one of these days. Poor David and Hulan have been through so much. I like to think that they're on vacation somewhere, sitting by the ocean, under a palm tree, sipping drinks with those little umbrellas in them. Those two deserve a break! But one day they'll be called back to work.

Hello Ms See, I have just finished reading your two books, "Shanghai Girls" and "Dreams of Joy" and enjoyed both tremendously. They depict the changes that occurred in China from the pre-to post-revolution beautifully. I have always been interested in China having been close to Pearl Buck who was the first American writer to write about that country. I'd love to know what you think of her books? Eva F.
