Goodreads asked Nancy Springer:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Nancy Springer Being a writer has many perks (enough to balance its many downsides) but as I've gotten older, I've begun to realize what may be the best. Writing feels wonderful even if you're never published, but I do have the good fortune of being well published, and that's what I'm talking about. Sure, when I was younger I loved the prestige of being published and getting my picture in the papers (or, these days, the Internet), but now what matters most to me is feeling that I will remain, in a sense, after my life ends. That I will leave myself to my family and friends in my books. That even by some strangers I might be remembered. The Best Thing.
