Emily Clauser
Emily Clauser asked David Wong:

What is your favorite book? Did anything inspire you to start writing JDATE?

David Wong Favorite all-time book is probably Confederacy of Dunces, I've spent my life trying to match that level of screwball comedy and clockwork precision (the way all of the ridiculous plot threads collide at the end is just astounding to behold). As far as influences, in interviews I'll emphasize Douglas Adams and Lovecraft but the truth is when I started JDATE I was reading a ton of Dean Koontz. Don't tell anyone. Fun fact: the shadow people showed up in the online version of JDATE a few months before they turned up in Koontz' Odd Thomas. We were both writing a comedy horror series about them at the same time (though our explanation and backstory for them were of course wildly different).
