I used to go gold panning. It involves a sore back and lots of standing around in cold water. But it is never less than thrilling. Writing a novel is much the same. The hope and expectation of discovery keeps me going. In terms of the question - it inspires me to write.

do you understand how difficult it is to get your latest novel. it isn't on kindle, like bullet catcher, and waterstones over here require punters to order the book as they don't carry it. i want to read it as i loved bullet catcher, but there seems to be a ridiculous amount of obstacles in the way. sorry that wasn't a question and goodreads are rejecting me. is custodians going to be released on kindle?
