Jennifer Manuel Thank you, Joanne! My next book, The Morning Bell Brings the Brokenhearted, is out Spring 2022. It’s set in the same community as Heaviness, five years earlier, and focuses on a teacher and the woman in the box with the baby.

My grandmother spent some time in Ahousaht in the 50s to hide a pregnancy, and lived a life very similar to what you describe. Would you email me? I'd love to talk
