Sarah MacLean Hi! I'm sorry that Bourne was trouble for you -- though I absolutely understand, because he was trouble for me, too! He's not heroic at the start of the book. The kidnapping isn't a good thing. It's not noble. He's willing to do anything to get what he wants, including ruin one of the only friends he's ever had. That was all essential to him being turned around.

As for the wedding night scene, Penny isn't out of her mind with drink; she's instead had enough to drink to lower her inhibitions to tell him the truth. To ask for what she wants. And she definitely wants. So much so that when he's back to his cold self the next morning, she's pretty devastated. Not because of the act, but because she is so changed by it and wants him to be, too. Which, of course, he is, but doesn't realize it for another 100 pages!

He's definitely the cruelest of all my heroes, which I think (hope!) makes his redemption that much more powerful. But he's definitely not for everyone!

Thanks for your question!
