Jackson Starling asked Linsey Miller:

I want to be an author, but since I have been doing art for a while, I don't know much. How do you find someone to publish your books?

Linsey Miller Hi! So there are (unless I'm forgetting something) 3 typical ways to publish: traditional, indie, & self. Each has it's own pros and cons. If you Google them, you should find a lot of blog posts by tons of authors from the different paths. With MoS, I went the traditional route (but it's with an indie publishing house, Sourcebooks). This is where you write and edit until you feel ready to query literary agents. Your agent is then who helps you prepare & send your work to editors. The editor then (usually from how I understand it) approaches their publishing house about making an offer on your work. If they make an offer, that's the deal you usually hear about in Publishers Weekly. Writer's Digest is a really helpful site to start on, and from there you'll find people from each path who post blogs and stories about how to figure out which publishing journey is right for you. I hope that helps!
