My favorite place to vacation are places where I can stay for at least a week and learn the patterns of the sun and wind, the come and go of people, and get a glimpse of place and setting, of what makes it different and alike from everywhere else.
But if you're looking for actual places? I love Mackinaw Island, the Petrified Forest area, any beach, any forest. A boat tied up to a dock is heaven, but a cabin in the woods is too far away from people to keep me interested.
