BitterAndMurky asked Peter Swanson:

PART TWO: When Ted visits Brad, the magazines are lined up with the coffee table. When Lily visits Brad the magazines are fanned out. Because we’re told that Brad’s place is very clean and organized, it would be unusual that he would change the way the magazines are arranged on the table. Is there any meaning or symbolism to this? Just wondering! Thanks.

Peter Swanson I wish I could tell you that the magazines have special significance ... but I can't. Apparently Brad had a little too much time on his hands and rearranged his coffee table.
