Beth is one of the best female characters I've read. The way how you wrote it was very real and credible. I admire how strong Beth is and how much she always wanted to help her mother despite everything. What do you say about the way in which Beth loves her mom after everything? Do you believe that their relationship will improve in the future?

(view spoiler)[Hi Mechie,
Thank you for the compliment. Beth was a very emotional character for me to write as I understood some of her hurts.
I remember having a conversation with a friend who went through something awful with her mother. Something that hurt her badly and something I'm not sure most people could forgive. When I asked if she still loved her mother, my friend welled up with tears and said, "She's my mom."
That moment tore my heart out and, in the end, I understood. She didn't have a lot to begin with and she was desperate to hold onto what little she did have. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but it was what she was feeling at the time.
When readers ask about the future of my characters, I can often tell them I know everything that will happen. When it comes to Beth and Ryan--yes, I do know what happens to them. But when it comes to Beth and her mother, I don't know. I think Beth will always have a part of her that will love her mother, but unless her mother cleans up her act, I'm not sure Beth will let her close again.
Thank you for the question!
