I just finished The Bear and the Nightingale and enjoyed it very much. It is interesting to find that you are a fan of Robin McKinley because I just compared your writing style to hers when recommending your book to a friend. Do you feel that Robin McKinley influenced your writing style? I am excited to start The Girl in the Tower very soon!

Katherine Arden Yes! I love Robin McKinley. THE HERO AND THE CROWN was one of my favorite books growing up, and I'm pretty sure I've read everything she's published. Even the title of THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE is a bit of a take off from THE HERO AND THE CROWN :)
