The Winternight trilogy books have the most beautiful covers. I especially love the Bear and the Nightingale cover book. It is so Russian, magical and mysterious. I know there is an artist who works on those covers but is it you who tell him/her what to draw or do you give him/her the freedom to do whatever he/she feels like making and you just validate the end results ?

The artist that did the US covers is Robert Hunt. The artist for the UK covers
is the Romanian artist Aitch. I love them all. No, I don't tell the artists what to draw. Generally my publisher gives a suggestion and then I comment on the sketches as they come in until we come to something that everyone is happy with.
The exception is the American cover for The Winter of the Witch. The image was my idea, and I was very involved in commenting on each draft of that cover.

Can I simply congratulate you with your first book which is amazing? The amount of research you've done is astonishing. I am not of Russian background but I'm from Lithuania and since historically Lithuania had so much intertwined politics going on with Kiev's Rus and Grand Duchy of Muscow, I really felt that authenticity in your book. Really good research. Even mentioned Litva once, haha :)
