Karlina asked Kathleen Glasgow:

Almost done reading Girl in Pieces. I am absolutely in love with the story. Any advice for a college student really struggling to get through school because of mental illness?

Kathleen Glasgow Thank you for reading! I hope you are seeing a counselor or therapist--they can help you focus and stay safe. I've worked at a few colleges and I would recommend finding your student disability resource center. DRC's are instrumental in helping students with mental illness and various forms of anxiety and depression get classroom support. They can help communicate with your professors about your needs and even find a classroom advocate for you if you need it, like a note-taker. If you don't know how to find this resource on your campus, talk to your academic advisor. Everyone is assigned one, and they'll be happy to walk you through the steps. There may also be support groups on campus composed of other students with mental illness; having a group to talk to can be a tremendous help. The DRC or your academic advisor can help you find these resources as well. I hope that helps.
