Hi! So at school, in history were learning about the Battle of Hastings and ya know, the war that kinda happened with it. Long story short, three different people thought that they should be king of england and they decided to kill each other. In the end, William won, and he killed off Harold Godwinson who killed Harald Hadrada. Anyway, my question is, is 3DC based off this at all?

Hi Emily! Ah, history! Sounds like an interesting unit at school. But though some of my favorite tales from history involve people killing other people for crowns, 3DC was inspired by the behavior of queen bees.

Kendare Blake:
With the king consorts in TDC did they have any actual responsibilities/powers and what were they? (As in the oracle novella the king consort seemed to be more like an accessory) Also, as I’m assuming the king consorts home kingdoms were patriarchal unlike the island, why did so many of them go to be suitors when they were essentially giving up their chances to raise any kids/heirs to carry on their family name?
