Malak asked Alyssa Sheinmel:

I reed Faceless 3 years ago, and it was one of the most beautifel and amazing books that I have read in my life. It was fascinating. And I was inspired by the story wich let me write a whole research paper about the psyclogical effects of face transplant to the recipients for my diploma. So, my question is "Why did you choose to write about this medical issue specifically??"

Alyssa Sheinmel Thank you so much for your note, Malak--I'm so glad that you loved and were inspired by Faceless! A lot of different things inspired me to write Faceless--years ago, I knew I wanted to write a story about a girl who'd been in an accident, a girl who would wonder just how closely who she was was tied to what she looked like. But it wasn't until my editor shared an article about a face transplant with me that I knew how I wanted to tell this story. Thank you so much again for your question--happy reading!
