Sarah Carlson
Sarah Carlson asked Sonia Hartl:

I love the concept of your book! What inspired you to write it? What inspired your characters?

Sonia Hartl Thank you for the question, Sarah! Most of my ideas start with a setting, then I create a character who would be in constant conflict with that setting. My favorite part of writing is taking a place or set up people think they’re familiar with (or at least know enough about to form an opinion), and peel back the layers. With Have a Little Faith in Me, I wanted to write a sex-positive story, while also showing the harm that can be done by treating female sexuality as if it doesn’t, or shouldn’t, exist. Mostly, I wanted to write a story about how empowering it can be for girls to support each other, how important it is for them to have honest dialogue without fear of being shamed, and the conversations we should be having around consent.
