Hey Mr. Dalglish. I started with the Shadow series but the Half-Orcs series is the one that grasped me. The lore and all that it contains. I'm attempting to write myself. I just wanted to know...How did you start your world? Did you craft all the lore and everything that entails before or did you just start writing and think of things as you go?
David Dalglish
Pretty much everything involving the world of Dezrel was crafted at random intervals throughout the writing of the 20 books or so set there. If you're looking at writing fantasy novels, at the beginning, I'd say don't focus too much on the world-building. It's way too seductive and easy to spend hours inventing houses and maps and fanciful history to avoid the difficult hours of butt-in-chair writing the actual novel part.

At the end of the Breaking World series, the creation of Ashhur's paladins starts with Patrick Dutaureau. And then later in history, in the Half-Orc series, there is the exiled paladin of Ashhur, Jerico, who has red hair.
I'm curious, are these two related somehow?
Is Jerico a descendant of Patrick Dutaureau or perhaps even the young Patrick Gemcroft somewhere down the line when/if the Half-Orc series continues?

Hi there I've been in contact a couple of times in the past love all your books. Have you ever thought that Hearn, Brug and Del could return in an angel form or that the angels could do what they did for Qurrah and bring there lives back maybe even Darius. I'm sure in one of the angels tell Harruq that they were once man or is there any books about the land of Ashurr?
