In Murder Takes the High Road when asked if he'd ever thought about writing his own story, Carter said no, that it would take all the enjoyment out of recreational reading. Do you agree with that?

Largely, yes. It's very difficult for me to read as I used to--in effect, as a passenger rather than a driver. And it's one of the downsides about writing for a living.
